The Monroe Historical Society (est. 1959) is a volunteer driven nonprofit (501c3) dedicated to preserving Monroe, CT’s heritage and the spirit of our people. To encourage an insight into the past, the society engages in activities that are educational, cultural and social in nature.

At the same time we archive historical collections representative of Monroe across the eras from the 1700s through the 1800s and 1900s to today. The artifacts and items are conserved in our three historic buildings, Eliot Beardsley Homestead c. 1780, Old School House c. 1790, East Village, East Village Meeting House c. 1811, which the society has acquired and restored as important historic landmarks themselves.

“We preserve and present history!”
