Halloween outing: David Solek, Monroe’s park ranger and tree warden, leads a group of hikers through a section of the Paugussett Trail in the East Village District Saturday (Oct. 29) in the Monroe Historical Fall Foliage Creepy Cemetery Tour for Families. The outing covered three other locations on foot and by bus—the East Village Meeting House (est. 1811), the ruin of the Foster Cargill hoopskirt factory and historic graves in the East Village Cemetery.  The Monroe Historical Society sponsored the free tour in collaboration with the Monroe Parks and Rec Department, Monroe Land Trust and Tree Conservancy and Monroe Conservation and Water Resources Commission.
