Join the Monroe Historical Society in celebrating the 400th anniversary of the Mayflower voyage as we welcome speaker Mary Brown.  Ms. Brown is a costumed, interactive speaker and descendant of an original Mayflower passenger. What were the social, economic, and religious factors that compelled these ancestors to risk their lives and cross the ocean to make a new start?  Based on the book Making Haste from Babylon by Nick Butler, Brown’s talk will focus on the reasons the Pilgrims left Europe to start over in the New World.

This event is co-sponsored by the Edith Wheeler Memorial Library.
